Work on Central Place in Rosslyn, Virginia began back in 2014 where the architects at Beyer Blinder Belle (BBB) designed the impressive mixed use residential. Central Place, according to JBG Companies, “…is the most anticipated trophy project in the D.C. area and will act as the centerpiece to the booming Rosslyn market.”
Clark Construction, the project’s general contractors, spearheaded the project and were additionally responsible for demolition and hazardous material abatement prior to construction. The representatives at Clark describe, “The project team then constructed a 31-story, 377-unit residential tower clad in unitized curtain wall with unique curved elements. The finished apartments feature Italian finished cabinets, stone countertops, stainless steel appliances, and upgraded fixtures. The top three floors of the building contain luxury level finishes.”
In addition to the luxury apartments, the building features 30,000 square-feet of ground-level retail space. To compete with the multitude of extravagant residential developments in DC, Central Place features the latest in high-quality amenities including a roof-top terrace and fitness center. Interestingly, a 17,000 square-foot public plaza connects Central Place to the Rosslyn Metro Station entrance.
Like any project in a major metropolis, Central Place required aggressive lead times in terms of both fabrication and installation of the exterior components. CEI Materials has worked on a number of projects alongside Clark Construction. CEI Materials fabricated a variety of metal components including 6mm aluminum composite material, custom soffit panels, column covers and single skin. The metal composite material was fabricated utilizing CEI’s customizable R4000 Drained Rear-Ventilated Rainscreen System.
Central Place is composed of two towers, the other is a commercial tower which features nearly 600,000 square-feet of office, retail and food service space. The commercial tower of Central Place is the tallest office tower in the DC area. The architects at BBB describe, “The project is intended to enhance an area that currently suffers from limited amenities and pedestrian character, and to create a lively, urban destination.” The project is targeted to achieve LEED Gold status.
